The Lietz Boarding School in Haubinda is a school with a unique history and a clear vision. Founded as early as 1901, Haubinda is one of the oldest progressive schools in Germany—and has lost none of its appeal to this day.
Dr. Hermann Lietz, the school’s founder, had a groundbreaking idea: children and young people should learn not only in the classroom, but also through practical life in the village, through working together, and through taking responsibility for the community. This fundamental principle continues to shape our boarding school village in Thuringia to this day.
