Embracing Diversity

The World Visits Haubinda

The Lietz Boarding School in Haubinda is an international boarding school in Germany that brings diversity and a sense of community to life every day. About ten to fifteen percent of our students come from abroad. This international community enriches the learning experience, opens up new perspectives, and makes Haubinda a unique place.

To ensure that all young people feel welcome from the very beginning, we have developed a customized integration program. This includes:

A student mentoring program that helps international students make connections and quickly settle into daily life

German as a Second Language in the Classroom, Tailored to Students’ Prior Language Proficiency

Customized schedules tailored to individual abilities and learning goals

Welcome to your new home

We also place great importance on ensuring that our international students feel at home outside of class.

Friendships form quickly within the boarding school community and often last well beyond the students’ school years

Our cafeteria caters to international tastes and regularly serves international dishes in addition to regional cuisine

Continuous weekend and holiday care ensures that no one is left alone

International Weekends – Unique to Haubinda

As an international boarding school, Haubinda offers something unique that is found nowhere else in Germany: International Weekends. While many students go home, the international students go on exciting short trips together with their teachers and staff. The excursions begin on Fridays and take students to German cities and regions—from Neuschwanstein Castle to the Old Town of Bamberg, from Europapark Rust to Gamescom in Cologne. Cultural highlights such as the Art Festival in Weimar and sporting events like the FIS Ski Flying World Cup in Oberstdorf are also on the itinerary.

This way, the young people can not only explore Germany, but also deepen their knowledge of the language and culture—and perhaps even get a glimpse of where they might study in the future.

At Haubinda, internationalism means learning together, benefiting from one another, and growing together—in the classroom, in daily life, and while traveling.

Voices from the student body

What is it like to live in Haubinda as an international student? As part of their project exam, a group of 10th-grade students took a close look at the topic of internationalism and conducted interviews on the subject—even in Chinese.
